First mirrorless camera for backpacking/hiking/traveling

Dear all,

Specifically within sight of the coming Cyber Monday, I wanted to buy my first serious camera, since I already wasted enough occasions for taking nice pictures with my good ol' compact from Sony.

Those are the occasions in which I will shoot pictures:

  • Landscapes on hiking trips (e.g. canyons in Utah or glaciers in Patagonia)
  • Long backpacking trips
  • Weekend trips with my girlfriend (i.e. pictures with landmarks and one/two people)
  • (optional) Possibly horrible to read for a photographer, but a tilted screen for selfies would be nice-to-have

So far my price range would be between 400 and 800 EUR, only including body and kit lens, for the time being, although I will probably buy a more dedicated lens when I will figure out what I exactly need. Possible options I saw are:

  • Sony a6000/6300
  • Olympus OM-D E-M10 mk II/III

but I'm not sure whether they are the best option for me, so any other advice is most welcome too.

Thank you in advance.
