Best lenses for birding?

New to birding with a new A7 III, wondering what lenses people recommend for this purpose. I have the Sony 24-105 F4 and love it but it's too short.

Specifically, I'm wondering if the 70-200 2.8 with the 1.4x or 2x teleconverter would be better or worse than the 100-400 4.5-5.6 on the long end for shooting birds in flight. I've heard the image quality is similar. Assuming that is true, I wonder if the 70-200 with teleconverter is still fast enough for the AF-C. Thanks.
