With every mockup and pre-release model spotted, my hopes for this lens performing well keep increasing. I love my 14/2.8, but if the 16/2.8 fares as nicely, the WR, silent focus and size/weight might seriously tempt me.

I'm 100% with you. I know that 2mm make a big difference (at least in the wide end of stuff), but the only reason I got the 14mm to begin with was that the 16mm f2.8 had not been released yet. The more I think about this, the more I think my ideal trio would be 16mm f2.8, 35mm f2 and 50mm f2; the only part I'm unsure of being the 50mm instead of a 60mm

I’m hearing you there.  The 16, 35, 50 is sounding like a perfect three lens prime kit for me too and approaching that “Holy Trinity” of primes level for travel.  I stilll have (and love) my 56 f1.2 but I’m finding it not straying far from home much any longer.  The compact primes have given me the opportunity to really cut weight from my kit without sacrificing IQ.  Sure, I lose a stop here or there but I know where my wheelhouse is when traveling and never tended to shoot at f1.4/1.2.  The one lens I didn’t go Fujichon on was the 35.  The 35 f1.4 isn’t much larger size wise than the 35 f2.  If I need the weather resistance I can always swap to the 23 f2 but still leaves me the ability to shoot at 1.4 if needed.
