Looking at Geert Hofstede's famed dimensions, the Japanese are a very uncreative people. They are very low on risk-taking.

These traits mean, in essence, that they settle for inferior equipment.

But they are the one who invented, designed, and are selling the equipment. Who's the smart ones? And the rest of the world is funding their buying habits.

Asian cultures with the Japanese in particular have very heavy herd mentality, meaning, they mostly buy not necessarily on quality but based on brand name and what everyone else is buying and this lead to snowball trend.

This is just Japan thought, in other Asian countries such as China, Vietnam, South Korea .Taiwan, Singapore,etc... the interest in the A7III, despite being 7 months old, is just as higher or way higher than the EOS R despite long lasting (until now) Canon domination and Canon gears generally being much cheaper than Sony in Asia. You can see this for yourself using google trend.
