Most good photo opportunities will come at dawn and dusk - low light . you need the fastest lens you have.

You will be surprised at how close some animals get to you. You need your second body with something like a 24mm-70mm in 35mm equivalent.

Tripods are useless unless you are camped somewhere for a length of time. Monpods not much better. Vehicles do not have room for them. Take a empty bean Bag and fill it with rice or beans when you get there.

If you are going internally by plane check weight limits - most are only 15Kg some even less.

Take lots of memory cards and spare batteries. Some places have limited charging facilities and some none at all. Depending on what / where you are going you may not be able to recharge for a few days.
