What USB 'device' for a continuous still photo show to run on dedicated TV

Research problem, any ideas?. I have a spare 27 inch TV of good quality. I want to set it up up to run a series of slides which I will download from MAC to a USB stick. Sort of a moving photo gallery or picture frame in motion... I have successfully used my ROKU Ultra with a couple of lacking features that I desire. Ability to vary the transition time and create dissolve function. ROKU says not possible in current units. What I do not want is to move a DVD player or a computer for this function ( if avoidable) to the room with the spare TV. Anyone know of a device that will run about 500 JPEGs in this fashion with transition capabilities? Thanks for ideas, caveats, and references.
