Using X-Transformer and Lightroom

So I've recently become the proud new owner of an X-T2, and I'm trying to figure out how I want my workflow. I'm partial to Lightroom, as I'm already somewhat familiar with it, and I appreciate how quick and easy it makes everything. I've also installed Capture One Fujifilm Express, and I'm learning how to use it too, but I just don't like it as much as Lightroom.

However, Lightroom's handling of Fuji's RAW files is atrocious. Any amount of sharpening and the dreaded worms show through like an eyesore! So to mitigate this I tried using X-Transformer to convert RAF to DNG, as everyone on the internet seems to say is the best way of handling things. But I'm seeing little-to-no improvement at all. Attached is an example with sharpening turned all the way up (an extreme example, but to illustrate the point). Left image is RAF, right is DNG converted using X-Transformer. I can scarcely tell the difference between the two. Am I doing something wrong?

Here are my X-Transformer settings:
