E-M1.2 - Still Product Photography - Tethering/Pixel Shift Hi-Res/Extra DOF

I just did a tethered session shooting some leather swatches and I just love it:

- USB-C tethering

- Decent power management during tethering (I set LCD auto-off after 8s with eye sensor on, the camera will not use screen/evf and I'll just peak into the EVF for manual focus confirmation/25MP review then press the shutter on the computer. I got through roughly 350 Hi-Res shots with 20% left on a single battery)

- Extra DOF from m43 sensor

- 1/50 sensor readout = 1/50 flash sync in Hi-Res (this is so understated)

I hope Olymous would:

- rehauls the Olympus Capture GUI

- create a dedicated iOS tethering app (iPad Pro USB-C)

- improve to higher resolution Live View feed (FHD would be sufficient, current HD feed plus poor non-retina GUI is just dreadful)

- add USB charging (I doubt it's possible to have data + charging together using one cable)

- perhaps develop a Pro Macro lens (longer working distance + more resolving power)

I once considered the a7RIII but the 1/13 readout, cumbersome Pixel Shift workflow & larger lenses kept me from getting into the system (I travel with the E-M1.2 very light). On this note, the sensor readout on the a9 is 1/160 thanks to the stacked sensor, I'm sure this advancement will trickle down in the future.

Here's an example of what I shot:

M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.2 Pro @ f/2. Hi-Res 4s post shutter delay, 1s flash charge delay. I haven't fiddled with sharpening in post yet fyi. Not sure if I should get the 60mm macro, I'll probably shoot again at f/4 or f/5.6, f/2 is sharp but still needs stacking.
