Looking to add a 4/3 camera to my collection. It will mainly be used for 4K video.

Leaning heavily towards a G85 but with the price of the G7, curious how much of a difference there is between the two? How do the low light 4k performances compare? Is the G85 significantly better than the G7 when on a tripod?

Thanks for the input.

It depends on if it's going to be your primary camera.  If so, I would go with the G85 for the IBIS advantage, and the better ISO and sensor performance.  G7 was a great camera and still is significant today, but the upgrades in the G85 IME is worth the extra cash.  Once you use the touch focus and IBIS, you'll realize just how important that is for 4K video.  The G85 can hand hold 4K video with smooth camera movement,  while the G7 can't.  That right there will allow you run and gun ability over a tripod stationary camera.

However, if the 4:3 is going to be your B camera or everyday carry and not your primary camera, I would look into the GX85 with 2 lens kit.  That camera is IME the best bang for the buck camera you can get.  Video quality wise and stabilizatio wise it's the same as G85 and beats the G7.   But the GX85  has no mic and headphone jacks, and not weather sealed.

Nevertheless, if you're going to 4:3, get one that will suit your style of video.
