Hi Guys !

I got the new cam and i like it. At least for the 4K. I will take your general consensus and go with dedicated m34 lenses because based on what you guys say, i think ill only benefit on longer focal ranges rather than wider lenses.

In that light is there a prime 7mm or so which would cost quite less and is directly compatible with the G7 while giving auto-focus and aperture control via camera body ?

If you are okay with manual focus/aperture, the cheapest rectilinear prime is the 8mm f/4 from SLR Magic ($170 new; was available a while back for $130), but its a softer lens with field curvature (although perhaps okay for video).

The Laowa 7.5mm f/2 is much sharper, but costs a lot more. Note Laowa is launching a cine version of this lens too (probably with declicked aperture).

My UWA budget solution personally was a Ricoh DW-6 0.79x wide adapter mounted with 37mm to 43mm step-up ring on my 12-32mm lens. Gives a 9.5-25mm with full AF and aperture control. Got the idea from this thread:

Hard to find a DW-6 at a decent price (I found used one on Ebay), but it seems Adorama has some for $60.

Hi Jake !

I found a DW-6 on amazon in my country costing USD 500.

There seems to be a Samyang 7.5mm for MFT mounts. I wonder if that would work to cover a 10x10 room from one corner of the room ? I dont mind panning a little too to get that on the video.

The DW-6 requires a 12-32mm lens though (which was included as a kit with my camera). You said 12-32mm is really expensive in your country, so it might not be an option for you. Here in USA, the 12-32mm is around $100-150 USD for a dekitted one (from people got it from a kit and didn't want to keep it).

The Samyang 7.5mm f/3.5 is a fisheye lens. It'll have very wide coverage, but lots of distortion.

The SLRMagic 8mm f/4 is probably the best option for you, if it's available in your country:

How about this one ? Just for a few minutes of room interior shots.

Samyang 1:2.8 8 mm F2.8 UMC Fish Eye II for Mirrorless Camera, Fuji X (Black)

That one is for Fuji X mount. You need one for Micro Four Thirds mount. And note it says it's also fisheye lens so there will be a lot of distortion.

This is the cheapest rectilinear lens I can find on Amazon India. It is the Micro Four Thirds 9-18mm f/4-5.6. This one will have full AF and electronic aperture since it is native to MFT.
