Keep in mind that I currently shoot with 4 different mirrorless brands
Yeah, I have seen your gear list and followed many of your posts.
- those being Micro 43, Fuji X, Canon EOS M, and the now defunct (yet still very capable) Samsung NX systems. And I enjoy using them all very much. This obviously limits me with what I can purchase (especially now that I'm retired and on a limited income).
I totally underdtand. Though I have noticed that you seem to have a penchant for "discount" cameras. For example, what you spent on your M50 + X-T100 would have easily covered the X-T20 or possibly the X-T2.
So my collection of photographic goodies finds me holding on to very capable older models - all of which I've babied to the max. Would I love to get the X-T2 or 3? Of course, I would, but at the moment I'm quite content with what I have. And to this date, I can still reach for the very reliable ole' Olympus E-1 (a 5 MP camera) to capture superb images - now go figure? In fact, I bet I can post a 5 MP E-1 image here and if I didn't tell you which camera it came from, you'd assume it came from a 24 MP Fuji X camera.
Image quality may still be great from those older cameras, but processing power is not. Fuji made a pretty huge leap in processing power going from the X-T1 to X-T2. The X-T3 is another big leap again. All of your Fuji bodies are two to three generations behind in processors. Sort of like comparing your EOS M with DIGIC 5 to the M50 with DIGIC 8. Your fastet Fuji camera is like a DIGIC 6 M3.
As for the Viltrox, there is absolutely no reason for them to advertise complete functionality with both EF and EF-S lenses on Fuji X cameras, when in fact, that is not the case. As I mentioned, I currently have the X-T1, X-E2, X-A3, and X-T100 - and it would NOT AF with any of them (no matter what I tried to include updating the FW). The vendor finally had to put a notation on his website about which cameras they will work with and ones they won't. I'm hoping to have better luck with the Fringer version, albeit it is twice the price. If it doesn't function, then well....it will go back also. That's all one can do - that is, try and see if they work.
Definitely sounds like the Viltrox listings were misleading, to say the least. I hope the Fringer works well for you. The reports I have read when used on the X-T2, X-H1, and X-T3 all sound quite possitive.
