DP1 Merrill - low res - going to extremes

While researching another subject, I could not help but be impressed by the enormous difference between 'as shot' and some "final" images:

At right, SPP5 conversion with zero slider levels and Standard color mode. The cyan sky makes me puke, to be quite honest.

At left, waggling a few SPP sliders improved matters only a little, a sure sign of a poor shot to begin with.

At center, a change to Vivid color and a couple succeeding applications of USM (medium radius then small) and a few other sliders in FastStone Viewer gets something a bit mo' striking.

The point of this thread: once again, 'computational photography' shows it's merits; the sensor is almost irrelevant ...
