Olympus 60mm Macro Lens
Oct 28, 2018
I'd like to improve my macro images, which pale in comparison to those posted here. I'm currently using the 1 inch sensor Sony RX100 iv with a Raynox M-250, Because I have a mutant gene that causes very weak hand strength, I need to greatly limit equipment weight. I was considering the 4/3 Panasonic GX9 with the Olympus 60mm macro lens, but noticed on the Imaging Resource site that the image quality of the Sony is noticeably better than that of the Olympus lens (although the Raynox probably degrades the Sony image a bit). The Sony/Raynox combo results in an image ratio of 1:2 versus the 1:1 of the Panasonic/Olympus combo. Both cameras have 20 megapixels. Most of the insects in Oregon are fairly small, so I have to crop images considerably with the Sony. The question is, would the more favorable ratio of the Panasonic/Olympus combo (and absence of the Raynox) outweigh the better optical quality of the Sony? Maybe I'm missing something.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
