Hello,

My girl-friend uses an old EOS 350D and a zoom Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM , using the EF-S mount. She wants to upgrade to an EOS 200D, using the same lens. I assume the old lens and the newer 200D should work perfectly well together. Is this correct ?

Apologies is the question is obivious, but I'm not familiar with those compatibility issues.

No problem. It's actually not obvious at all!

I'd advise checking with Canon and Sigma regarding compatibility. The SL2 uses the new Canon lens communication protocols (esp for Dual Pixel AF). Even some of Canon's own older EF lenses are not fully compatible.

Sigma might have a firmware update that they could apply if available. Check with them.

Best of luck. The 200D packs a huge bang for the buck!

ps. If you can get the 200D with the 18-135 USM kit, that would really rock (I have the older brother 18-135 STM).  It is dead quiet and just a joy to use.  R2
