Spare parts: LCD for GM5
2

As I have a few GM5 bodies I thought it a good idea to have a couple of spare lcd screens as it is a part that could be damaged.  I intend to keep my GM5 cameras for a long long time.

These screens can be bought via Aliexpress.  I thought that I would share an experience.

Unlike other on-line purchase facilitators the amount being charged is a bit “dense”.

Price in US$12.74 plus “freight”.  Bought and everything regarding payment suddenly takes place with no confirmation before or after on exactly what full amount is being charged.

Goods have arrived fairly quickly with no issues (freight is more than the combined cost of the screens) but there is no obvious confirmation of the price charged.  But by looking carefully you can download an invoice.  Including freight and the now obligatory 10% GST the price has escalated to US$62.83 (for two) - but still in US$.  I still don’t know the price in AUD$ ( the total charged by Aliexpress) including obviously how much effectively Aliexpress has charged me for currency exchange.

Luckily I don’t buy much and it is within my conceivable limits to pay, this would become a logistical nightmare for anyone making many purchases.

I guess I will find out when I get my credit card statement.  By the time the currency is exchanged I will be surprised if these screens end up costing less than AUD$86 - which is AUD$43 each.  I am not altogther unhappy with my purchase but am spending a whole lot more than I expected from the listing price.

This might seem naive as a buyer - I have not bought a lot through this faclitator but the last time I knew exactly how much I would have to pay before I pushed the “buy” button - this time it is not working for me.

Maybe I missed something.
