The dogs and I are finally back from our western hunting trip. It was great to be out there - quite an adventure - but it's great to be back at my mountain home with Nancy. Life is good.
Just a few western non-hunting, landscape shots: Leaning church in Dooley, MT:
Old barn in north-east MT:
Wild north-central Montana skies in the high country overlooking the Larb Creek valley:
Sage grouse country in MT:
Hilltop church in Zortman, MT - population 49:
Western North Dakota - Little Missouri Grasslands - over one million acres of public land to hunt:
Lots more western pics to post later.
While I was away, my firm moved into a new building we bought. Since I wasn't there to help with the move, I figured my stuff would be under a blue tarp on the sidewalk when I got home, but they moved it and even put my name on the wall:
Linda, my secretary and friend for 40 years, at the front desk in the new building:
Nancy's family were visiting and her nephew (an avid hunter from SC) had never hunted pheasant before. It just happened that yesterday was opening day here and I took him out. Was concerned that Joy would disappear over the horizon as she was used to running a good half-mile out in the west, but dogs are very smart about some things and she shortened up her range appropriate to the much smaller cover here in the east and stayed within 100 yards or less.
Dwyane taking his first ever pheasant over a great Joy point:
Dwayne (yes, he's a big guy - I'm not small and he makes me look tiny

) , the Old Man, The Chaser, Joy and a bunch of birds Mr. Joy found and pointed for us:

PS: Bill and Courtney: I'm happy to step up in the rotation for hosting the weekly ST&C thread hosting now that I'm back. Nancy, the dogs and I will probably head out to NM and AZ for a couple months after Christmas to hunt desert quail and explore, but I'm home for now (it's ruffed grouse and pheasant season here - can't miss that!!).
