How Kodak took a header into oblivion
2

In 1990, Kodak engineers told author Douglas Collins (The Story of Kodak) that cameras going forward would likely be hybrids where film was the primary imager, digital secondary. At the time, digital was nowhere near film in-terms of quality, so perhaps they didn't see the future too well?  But as it turns out, lack of diversification, the increasing profitlessness of the point and shoot market killed them just as dead as a dying film market.  Kodak didn't avoid digital, they just did it wrong.
