How heavy is your gear ?

And is this ever a problem for you ?

Over and over I'm seeing people complaining about having to lug around a bunch of heavy gear. Like most of the mirrorless crowd 😉

So last week my GF and I went on a little fishing + possibly photography / hiking trip. I have a large CamelBak that holds 3 liters of water. Added my 6D + two lenses, tripod w gimbal head, fishing gear, assorted extra hiking stuff, etc, and I have to say, it was kind of tough to get it zipped closed. I'd say my pack was very close to 40lbs. I'll admit, it felt pretty heavy holding it in one hand. But as soon as I strapped it on, it felt like nothing ! Our hike wasn't that long, but I'm sure I could have went 15 or 20 miles with it.

And I'm 54yo, and 230 lbs... Without a 40 lb pack !

Now I understand some folks might have disabilities, or be a lot older than myself, but I think a lot of people need to just man up, and hit the gym 😉

Does an extra few lbs of camera gear really effect you that badly ?
