My thoughts

...hmmm...its $479 price gives me pause, seeing that the EF50/1.8II goes for $125 (and I've got a 6D to mount it on)...

The EF-M 32mm f1.4 has a quite complex optical design, with 14 (!!) elements. So, in my opinion, the price is very reasonable. All those elements need to be painstakingly produced, after all. On top of that, the lens has faster AF than the Ef 50mm f1.8 STM. This lens has a very old fashioned and simple optical design, with only 6 elements. This explains the price difference.

Whether it makes sense for you to get a 32mm f1.4 for your EOS M camera, that is another matter. If the 6D with 50mm f1.8 STM gives you what you need, you can save the money.

You can look at it from many angles. Personally, I prefer my 6D and its OVF. But I can also appreciate that at certain instances the compactness of an EOS M can take your preference. Or maybe one likes how the 32mm f1.4 renders better than how the 50mm f1.8 STM renders. Or maybe one needs the more snappy AF (when used on one of the newer EOS M models).

Lots to consider.
