Why can’t a Mirrorless be the size of the D810, D850 or even the D5?

Are the big DSLR manufacturers making a mistake trying to make their new Mirrorless cameras fashionably small? By doing so they are placing constraints on their own new creations.

e.g. Nikon saying that to include two cards they would have had to make the camera bigger? Leaving off the buttons we have got so used to using? The lack of a grip etc.

Don’t we all like the size and heft of the big DSLR’s?

Where is the sense of a large sensor, large new mount and a small toy size camera?
