EOS R CR3 conversion confusion

Hi all - am trying to work out the best way to convert CR3 into a more usable format.

(BTW, as far as I can tell, in the following it makes no difference whether the CRAW compression is turned on or not - these issues are about the CR3 format not CRAW compression).

So I have found two ways to convert the CR3 (this is on a Mac):
1) Use Canon's DPP to create a (massive!) TIFF file. Takes ages.
2) Use Abobe's DNG convertor to create (roughly same size) DNG. Very quick.

Initially the two images are pretty similar, but as you zoom in, there is strong chromatic aberration  in the DNG. I'm confused because I thought that the lens corrections were being done on the camera so should already be "in" the CR3?  (They are turned on on the camera as far as I can tell).

When I look at the CR3 in DPP (pre-conversion) there is no aberration.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
