Whats the deal with the X-E3 viewfinder being worse than the X-E2?
Oct 13, 2018
I just went to upgrade for snappier focus mainly, but after seeing someone mention that the 3rd's VF can be a problem for some people with glasses, I took particular notice of it. My eyes aren't very short sighted but I need glasses and have astigmatism, enough for lasik to wear off after 5 years. I have seen other people say they have no problem with the 3rd's VF, with glasses.
Am I one of the few unlucky ones this affects? Is there a fix for the issue? Has anyone upgraded and had to go back to the 2nd because of the VF issue? Has anyone had the issue but soldiered through it with the improvements making up for it?
The focusing was nice and fast, I liked the smaller body, but the viewfinder was nowhere near as good as the 2nd X-E. It seemed darker and certainly less clear. My eyes have also had issues with another camera's VF which only bothered some people (Panasonic GX85, which was sold mostly because of the issue, although it was far worse than the X-E3).
Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated. I am really not sure if it will mean less enjoyable photography just for faster focusing and a couple other new bits like Acros and more MP. I will try going back to a camera store/s to compare them again, but any info in the meantime would be great.
I assume the X-E4 won't be out for another year, so waiting doesn't seem like an option. I know there are far better Fujis but I love having the VF on the left. There are no returns where I live so I can't get one and compare them for a week, cant even rent one.
