Is image stabilization really working?
1

As I said earlier I have both an SDQ and SD1 modified by Wei Duan.  I have not tried a lens with image stabilization because I believed it to not work.  I seem to recall from reading the xitek forum entries (translated not in Chinese) that it did not work and no lens conversion I've heard of nor mount conversion has ever supported IS from either Sigma lenses made for Canon nor for Canon lenses.

IS requires chip level communications between the camera and lens and that protocol came after the initial copying by Sigma of the rest of the protocol because IS had not yet been developed.  I also don't think Wei Duan does anything more than make sure the lens can talk to the camera; specifically I don't think he reprograms chips.

If it does work I may buy an IS lens.

thanks,

Mike
