Does the R Crop Mode kill the need for my 80d? (or other APS-C)

I've tried to dig deep about the crop mode, but I wanted to see if there was a simple answer for this question. This is NOT 4k Crop question. I asked this sort of in another thread, but no one could really answer.

I am a R pre-orderer canceller because of cold feet FYI.

I have 80d and 6d2 and was looking at R to be my main work camera for video to either replace my 6d2 or be an addition, but budget has been a huge issue for me. I've stated before that if I never pulled the trigger on the 6d2, I would have been 100% solid on the R.

Either way though, I wanted to make sure I kept my 80d for the moment because the crop helps my 70-200 for video in larger event areas that FF doesn't quite get tight enough and photo reach for sports etc. Both of these things are requirements to have for me.

My question, does the crop mode on the R make my 80d completely unnecessary? (not commenting on any other feature or spec but the crop factor) I could just switch to crop mode and get the same or better quality with ALL my lenses that the 80d would provide? Would it crop EF, EF-s, and even RF Lenses??

So, the 70-200 could get up close in the theater. I could push the 35 f/2 when I need a little more reach when I'm going light just carrying that lens. Could the RF 24-105 be used this way too?

Is there more to it than just FOV & DOF change? Mega pixels change with EF lenses? Worse Video quality than 80d?

I could sell my 80d which is only really hanging around because of the crop. Then I wouldn't have to sell my 6d2 and could rock both that and the R, switching the R to crop mode whenever I need it.

Thanks for any technical clarification that I am too inexperienced to find on my own.

Cheers, Chris
