How much resolution you really need?

I haven't printed any photos from 10 years, only view them on my 40" uhd display and on my ipad. For me 3840x2160 = 8,3MP cropped, so 3840x2560=9,8MP is enough now. Later I may upgrade an 5k display then 14,8MP is the full per-pixel resolution. If you crop to 16:9, the sensor resolution must 5120x3414 = 17,5MP-

Based on DXO mark lens ratings, APS-C lenses can provide 8-14 MP resolution, the best fixed lens gives 18MP resolution on APS-C.

FF lenses on FF sensor give 12-35MP, the best ones 40MP.

Even for 5k display APS-C 17,5MP is plenty. With foveon you won't get any benefit from higher resolution. With bayer because of interpolation multiple at least 1.5, so you should go for 26MP. For 8k resolution FF cameras with best lenses are must. Over 8k resolution, and huge prints is 100MP medium format territory.
