I shoot with DP Merrills, use the SPP to convert to TIFF files and then Silver Efex Pro2 for B&W conversions.
Have you done a comparison of final image quality from SPP alone compared to doing it this way?
Would be interested if there are actual differences that can be seen using one over the other?
I really like the image quality of the little Bricks. Used to shooting 5x7 and 8x10 so this 'mini-view' camera operating speed is not much of a problem. Image quality is very good and the lack of dust on sensors is most welcome.
I do use Canon and some Fuji as well - though more Canon SLR due to the lens selection.
I've never used Silver Efex Pro2 or any flavor of Silver Efex. I took a look at the system requirements, and it looks like I have to have Sierra for it to work. Unfortunately the newest OS that I have access to at the moment is El Capitan. Even the Windows machine I can use has a version that probably isn't compatible, because I don't think it has Service Pack 1 installed.
I guess I really need to get myself a Sierra system (or update my MacBook Air). Unfortunately, I think it will be a few more months before I get a newer, used MacBook Air, with 8 GB of RAM and a faster i7 processor (faster than the 1.8 GHz dual-core i7 in my 2011 MacBook Air) for about $500. First I want to get a 4 TB external drive for about $100, a $500 telescope, round-trip air-fare to Santiago, Chile, a few lenses (35-70mm f2.8 D for Nikon, 58mm Helios and a Jupiter 9 in m42 mount, a 600mm f8 mirror lens in Sigma SA mount, and the monster MTO 1000A), and some adapters (m42 for Nikon mount, m42 for Sony mount, a short T-mount adapter for Sony E mount, and a T-mount adapter for Nikon). That's not including the m4/3 camera with a lens and a few mount adapters, which I'm hoping to get before I go to Chile, so I can shoot a decent 4K video of the eclipse. I want to get quite a lot of "stuff" huh?
