Same thing happened to me

D100 and 500mm f4P came off the tripod fell about 8 ft to bricks. Ripped mount out of the camera damaged the mount and back of the lens bad enough it would not come off.

Told Nikon over the phone the above.

Nikon estimated $289, and repaired it at that price. Camera was sold to a friend years ago and she still uses it. The lens was traded in to get a new 200-500 2 years ago.

So Nikon may well stick to that price and notice the similarity in repair costs after all these years. $289 to $304

Hope it goes well for you. There is nothing worse than hearing a camera hit bricks
