M4/3 is Awesome!

Not really, because not all m4/3 is what you describe as cheap. I would like to say the kit I have chosen has proven to be great value.

For the functionality of the G80 and comparing the equivalent FF prices, yes it does work out cheaper. For me that is certainly helpful. Even being a keen photographer, at this point in time I couldn’t justify a system that costs circa £3000+.

When choosing the body that would replace my old D300/700 I went for the G80, but of course I tried others. I like the DSLR style body, but more compact, FPS is comparable on mechanical shutter, available grip and 4K photos was incredible for catching a recent red bull soapbox race with an adapted lens. 16mp is also enough for printing my photos at A4 or A3.

The lenses being compact, lightweight and good quality fits in well with the rest of the system and my needs and enables me to carry my whole kit whenever I want. If I want faster lenses they are also available, but at present I am happy with the kit and weight that is the most important thing. What is the saying, something like ‘the most important camera and lenses are the ones you have with you’. I very much doubt I would carry a FF equivalent of the 75-300ii hardly anywhere.

If you shoot full frame, that’s great, I have no issue with that, if you shoot mirrorless or dslrs, the same, go out and enjoy taking your photos. We seem to spend so much time worrying about what others shoot, rather than enjoying the craft of photography and the photos that people produce.

Personally I still think the m4/3 is an exciting system. However, had I come back and said ‘yes, I like m/43 because it’s cheap’ would it have mattered?
