Thank you Greg, I'm actually using the older X-T1, and I see no drop in read noise with that camera. To my ignorant eye everything seems very linear and predictable: increasing ISO DR decreases, read noise increases, shadow improvement is almost constant. I may just shoot at base ISO and increase the total exposure with many frames and stacking.
