Well I have just bought an M5 and was wondering how to allocate the MFn button to turn off the screen. Still not worked that one out yet, but I've only had the camera for a couple of hours

However there is a way to turn of the screen totally.

Go into the menu and select the SPANNER.

Spanner-DISPLAY SETTINGS

Select the DISPLAY CONTROL.

Change from AUTO into MANUAL

Now come out of DISPLAY CONTROL

Select MANUAL DISPLAY and chose VIEWFINDER

Now the SCREEN is permanently OFF.

However the EVF is now on, so go into POWER SAVING and select 15 sec OFF.

THe EVF will switch back on as soon as you put your eye to the viewfinder.

Hope this helps.

Well. At first it works, but evf is easy to be turned on unintentionally abd drains power in vain. So I switch manually between evf and lcd by assigning one button to the switch function and use another button to turn off LCD screen. Especially video record button is good for it because the button is easy to be hit without caution.
