Firstly, you should not be using micro sd cards with adaptors in your camera, Canon advise against this for good reasons.

1. By using an adaptor your are introducing an extra set of contacts and this makes the system more likely to fail through bad connections.

2. If you examine the contacts on a full sized SD card you will notice that there are 2 of the gold strips that project slightly further forward than the rest, these two strips are the power supply and the ground to the card. The purpose of this projection is so that the power and ground are connected to the card before the data lines (and the last to be disconnected when the card is removed). This prevents data loss/curruption and card or camera damage. A lot of adaptors do not have the proper alignment of these connectors and therefore are more likely to cause problems.

I can't say exactly what is wrong with your camera, it could be that the camera has a fault on the card circuitry or just that the card socket contacts are dirty or worn out. You would need to get it professionally repaired as it is unlikely that you can do anything yourself.
