Auto White Balance 5dIV too yellow

Last night just after sunset there was a bit of golden light on this vista just after sunset. My photo is way too yellow (I know I can adjust it), and to my eye also has too much magenta. The camera is set to AWB. My friend was shooting with a Nikon 850 and his shots of the same scene are not so yellow and are closer to the way it should look. There was another photographer there shooting with a Canon (don't know which one) who was also complaining that her photo was too yellow. Any thoughts on why this is? Are Canon sensors over sensitive to golden light?
