Hi:

Thanks for all the info contained in the original post and the followup posts.

I have a K50 which I used very little after I purchased a k70. Then, I managed to lose the K70, so I decided to use the K50 until I came up with a replacement with the K70.

That's when I discovered that the aperture problem was now affecting my K50.

The original poster's "fix" did not appear to be effective with my K50 until inserted AAs with the adapter instead of the Lithium-ion battery. (I only did this originally because the Li-ion battery wasn't at full charge and I wanted to try the fix while I charge the Li-ion battery.

Although the fix eventually worked, unfortunately the fix only held and holds for a session. If I put the camera down for a few hours, the aperture problem resumes.

If I try to implement the fix once the aperture problem resurfaces, I can only do so with the AAs, not with the Li-ion battery. Once I the fix is implemented, I can replace the AAs with the Li-ion battery and the aperture problem is banished for that session.

Obviously, this is not a long-term solution and I don't know why the AAs effectuate the short-term fix and the Li-ion battery doesn't.

Based on what I've read here and elsewhere, the K70 may not be immune to this aperture problem, so, if I go with another Pentax, I will probably choose a higher-end model.

Thanks again for all the useful info.

Thanks for the tip about the AA batteries, i will try it on my K30. my guess is that maybe the AA batteries deliver more power than the Li-ion.
