Either I had a bad copy or it has severe oil splatter

Much like the Nikon D7000, the D7100 had oil splatting down the middle of the frame. The D7100 performance however is actually very good with rich colors and contrast. The high speed crop mode was very useful. However, even with a fast SD Card, its buffer is extremely low and can fill up within a second, especially in RAW mode. I do not know if I had a bad copy, but if you do not like any visible black dots from oil splotches at F/5.6, you should go for a different DSLR.
