Film Grain And Digicam Noise Are Remarkably Similar
2

I decided to repost the below into a new thread as the one I put it into looked about ready to close from max posts. It was in response to someone that disagreed with my assertion in the title of this thread and a post I made in that soon to close thread.

How are are these two sample crops, one from a Fujifilm film at ISO 400 and one from a Sony RX100 4 at ISO 3200 (RAW), not remarkably similar? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Click for the original size, which are 100% crops. By the way, the film crop is from a 4000 dpi scan yielding a bit over 20 MP, closely matching the size from the 1" size sensor in the Sony. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I dedicate the reality in this post, and this thread, to dpreview's ultimate film evangelist, The Davinator. It would not be possible with him. ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜‰
