Universal Mount? L-mount Unlimited teaser

There is major rumor activity around the Panasonic/Leica/Sigma use of L-mount (currently only found on Leica SL, T and CL cameras).

I had been hoping for some kind of interchangeable mount module, and until the real announcement we are free to speculate further.

Aside from a new rumors website around L-mount (L-rumors.com), there was a teaser photo from a new site L-mount.com that is apparently registered to a Leica employee:

So what does "Unlimited" mean? The most exciting interpretation is that there is some kind of interchangeable mount on the camera, with L-mount being the default supplied mount. The existing L-mount alone would not make the camera as universal as a shorter-distance and/or larger mount - I think the Nikon Z mount is currently the most physically adaptable (short flange and large diameter).

With Sigma's apparent involvement, there is further reason to speculate that lenses can be equipped with adapters on the back end, similar to the T/T4/TX concepts from the era of 35mm SLRs. Sigma would obviously benefit from that, and Leica could widen their lens marketing also. Traditionally, camera makers like to lure customers into their own mount ecosystem, but Panasonic's video users will be wanting to shoot all kinds of lenses onto all kinds of sensor crop areas, and Panasonic should be inclined to support the idea very readily to become the most-preferred video platform.

So, universal camera-side mount module and/or universal lens-adapting mount system? These would justify the "Unlimited" theme if it's more than just general marketing hype. I'm looking forward to the announcement.
