what’s your expectations for the new iPhones

X-type devices, with a bit more horsepower under the hood plus bigger model, plus that entry level phone with bigger screen. We‘ll see in a few hours for sure, but I don‘t expect this year to see many photography related improvements.
Looks like the camera has a new sensor from what i understood in the keynote.
Yep, a bigger one. They advertise 1.4um pixels (from 1.22um last year) and still 12MP, so about 1/2.6” (from 1/3” since iphone 5s)

Plus better HDR and computional photography improvements.
So, 4,25mm lens, 26mm like fov.

Quite disappointed with the new devices. Apart from being powered by the A12 chip, I dont see any significant upgrade in iPhone XS from iPhone X. I'd rather go for XR over XS. I can live with the LCD screen and the camera specs are the same despite XR having a single lens camera. So why spend the extra $200.

The upgrades may be incremental but that is usually the case with all the "s" range of iPhones it follows.

Looking at the casual comparisons between the X camera and the XS camera on Daring Fireball I believe the differences are quite substantial in certain areas.

Think main differences between the Xs and X cameras is the all new fast readout sensor that increases the pixel pitch from 1.22 to 1.4 micron in the wide angle camera and now has a fraction wider field of view. Supposibly there is more on sensor phase detect pixels for even better AF tracking and AF speed. If you predominantly capture RAW, the benefits are not as obvious.

For RAW shooters maybe not that relevant, but for the fast majority of „regular” camera app users, the differences in HDR results are substantial. Multiple snapshot comparisons are surfacing these days, and even the differences between X and Xs are easily visible improvements.
