yield wide to phones & make pocketable portrait+ cameras

My request to camera manufacturers:

Phones have gotten quite good relative to other pocketable always-with-you cameras, at least for ~26mm +/- shots, maybe even for a bit of digital zoom to "normal" angle-of-view. But when the situation calls for 70+ or 85mm+ (FF equiv) they suffer.

I would really like if some camera makers would take advantage of the fact that phones have the wide end covered for casual photography quality needs (eg shots of the kids to share with extended family) and try to optimize quality for narrower AOVs while keeping size down to allow in-pocket-always carrying.

The original RX100 was just barely thin enough to carry always, but successors got thicker. The Canon G9X (& markII) are smaller and work great for always-in-pocket, but a 28mm shot from the G9X II will usually be only slightly better than the newest good phones (grandparents won't care). Whereas an 84mm shot will be *much* better than the same shot framed with the phone. Similarly for other cameras. And this applies above the end of the camera's optical zoom range too: a 150mm or 200mm shot achieved through the camera's special zoom-range-extending feature and/or cropping will still be far better than the same shot framed with a phone.

So I wish Canon would make a G9X-sized camera with a 70mm or 85mm prime lens. Giving up the rest of the range should allow f/3.5 or maybe even f/2.8.

Or think about it as shrinking an RX100 V or Canon G7X II, or an RX100 VI or Panny ZS100. These are cameras you can fit in your pocket but the bulge is such that it's hard for a lot of people to want to do so always. Could someone make something like the RX100 VI but shrunk to ~G9X size by putting in a lens that only covers 70-200mm? Even if it meant f/4-5.6 this would be a lot easier to carry always than a 43mm thick camera and would vastly outperform phones for these angles-of-view.

This is a request for new cameras, but the main work would be in developing new small & built-in portrait or short telephoto lenses. Lens design is always a compromise and giving up the wide end should buy something in size or aperture as well as sharpness. This ask is sort of the opposite of the wider and wider wide ends that camera reviewers and enthusiasts have been asking for for years. But it isn't for sophisticated "photography", it's for the practical problem of making memories of things that happen in everyday life. The best camera is the one you have with you. This is trying to improve the zoom range and quality across that range of the "one you have with you" by taking into account that you always have that other camera with you (that can take phone calls too).
