Q: anybody in the know - with hands-on experience maybe?
2

two questions - both seemingly simple, and yet I wasn't able to find definite answers on neither, let alone with practical hands-on experience - all queries are connected to various aspects of guest Virtual Machines:

  • would the VMs created and running on windows host with the Oracle's VirtualBox tools and environment... be directly mountable as guest VMs by the VirtualBox host created under linux?
  • and IFF so... then which linux distro and flavor would offer a most-hassle free way for such a migration?
  • the second question concerns the amount of RAM allowing a comfortable usage of guest VMs on linux host - will the 32GB be of sufficient capacity ?
  • esp. considering that the Host/VirtualBox is intended mostly for Web browsing, finding, email & securing downloads;
  • in a way that will most effectively insulate VMs from their contact with the Net.

thank you,

jpr2
