And at the end of that year, how will it compare to the $2K A74?

The way Sony handles service hereabouts, that comparison has zero significance - at lest for me.

I think that's true. Not highlighting Sony specifically but consumers of all things, and not just cameras, are as interested in the company's reputation of the products they buy as much as, and possibly more so, than individual specifications of those products. Especially as differences in specifications are often quite small and certainly not as large or as significant as we sometimes make them out to be.

As 'experts' we might think we are masters of the market in that we know our way around enough to be able to decide what is a good buy and what is not. But outside our rarefied and somewhat insular world market dynamics are very different.

Just think of goods that you are not an 'expert' in. Whether that be say cars, or washing machines or coffee makers most consumers tend to buy on brand reputation. And brand reputation is usually earned for very good reasons, including back up and service.

Also remember that retailers tend to prefer to sell goods that give them the least hassle. If company A's product's service is better than company B's, then generally company A's products will tend to get the recommendation. Us 'experts' might be prepared to ignore all that but since we are considerably outnumbered we don't really matter as much as we might think we do.
