mid-range A3 B&W printer

I'm in the market for an A3 printer that should be great for B&W prints. I will also print colour photos and an occasional document. My use case: a couple of prints every few months. Also a few documents every couple of weeks (a few tens of pages per year, so not worth it to buy a laser for that). I'm also thinking of a project to print maybe a 10x15(cm) more often, maybe once a week.

So far, I've found these printers:

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100S (€430):
    • Good: no ink waste to flush (because it's not pigment based), great colour photos
    • Bad: I'm reading mixed info about B&W, particularly on matte paper. Some people "fake" it by letting the printer handle colour management to get deeper blacks, but most report that B&W, particularly on matte, isn't very good.
  • Epson SC-P600 (€550):
    • Good: very good B&W reviews, particularly on matte!
    • Bad: some ink waste to avoid clogging. Pick matte or glossy, or suffer more ink waste. I'd pick matte and avoid the whole issue.
  • Canon Pixma Pro-10S (€630):
    • Good: good B&W, not so infamous for clogging as Epson
    • Bad: flushes a LOT, hurray, ink waste!

I'm currently thinking about the Epson because I can't find any reliable guide how to print good B&W on matte with the Pro-100S. I'm seduced by the good B&W quality, but I'm worried about the clogging. Should I worry in my case as described above?
