Upgrade from Olympus E300

I suppose it's about time to upgrade from my trusty old Evolt E300. Right now, I'm considering either the OM-D E-M10 Mk III or the PEN EPL-9. But the main question I have is, what the heck is the difference? AFAICT, they have pretty much the exact same specs. But the EPL-9 is 50 bucks more for no viewfinder? How well does taking pictures w/o a viewfinder work anyway? I kind of like the semi-rangefinderesque aesthetics better than the semi-SLR type, but I don't think I want to spend 50 bucks for looks.

I also have several 4/3rd mount lenses, and I noticed that the official Olympus MMF-3 adapter is more than five times as expensive as an off-brand adapter. Is it five times better?
