Calibrating an HP laptop to match a Macbook pro...

I edit images on an HP laptop. When a friend views them on her Macbook pro, her's looks slightly brighter, warmer and more vibrant.

1. Can anyone recommend a simple pathway in trying to solve this? Should I focus on colour settings, or display settings? And which slider specifically, in general, like lowering my blue to make it seem a bit warmer etc.)

2. I'm looking at the Spyder and Colourmunki devices. Are these good for just one laptop? Because most of the example videos I am finding are ones with duel monitors and getting them to match, with me it is just my laptop and a friend's macbook.

Sorry If I sound vague or clueless; I just find the calibration setting area to be one of the most frustrating things to learn, and also the most unpleasant to deal with. Any comment would be great, many thanks.
