I wish I knew what it was that makes certain combinations of cameras + lenses particularly apt at creating fine images. I suspect that though photographers love to discourse and carry on about the tools of their (our) trade, the best cameras wind up being those which become an extension of the way we see things.

I remember a great extreme skier talking about which skis he loved best - and opining that though he had his favorites, he was a good enough skier to be able to ski great lines on a water-skiing monoski.  I think he did, in fact, do that, once, just to prove a point.

But I think for me it came down to the lens as well.  That 22mm lens was and still is a gem.  I would buy another EOS-M just for the lens, I think.
