I received the Lumix/Leica 15mm lens. It came with a lens cap attached on the front & back. But what is this? It came in the box. Doesn't fit on the camera. Can someone help?

As said, it's the lens hood (sun shade) + matching cap. You should also find a decorative ring in the box. I thought I'd mention that because it might be even more puzzling.

The decorative ring probably comes attached to the lens. At least the 42.5 1.7's did. It has to be removed before you can attach the hood, which makes the hood seem like there's no place to mount it.

Actually, I think the part that is confusing the OP is that the extra part IS the decorative ring that bayonets onto the front of the lens when the lens hood is removed.

Easy to try. Several lens have this decorative ring that must be removed to put on the lens hood. The cover is probably for use when the decorative ring is installed. Once it is removed it should be easier to access the 46mm threads at the front of the lens.

Try it and let us know what it is.
