Re: Make your own dry bag

"dry bag" is a generic term for a urethane cloth or silnylon or plastic bag designed to keep water out (and air in), used by paddlers who want to have guaranteed dry (clothing, sleeping bag, electronics, etc). Dry bags come in all shapes and sizes. There are dry bags that look like duffels, dry bags that fit into the pointed ends of kayaks, dry bags attached to waistbelt, ..... All have either a roll-top top (roll at least 2 to 3 times) or a much sturdier version of a zip-lock bag seal. All should have some form of seam seal (paint-on urethane, to plug the needle holes for sewn items, as well as waterproof fabric.

I don't play around with dry bags for electronics and expensive items. I buy top quality, because all it takes is one overturned kayak / canoe to wreck electronics. It is ok to double dry bag clothing, etc.

Watershed brand has a gear bag for photographers.
