True, but the iPhone consistently has one of the best, if not THE best camera of any smartphone made.

Says who?

DxOMark

You should check the latest info. DxOmark current top of the list is the Huawei P20 Pro.

Just remember that the DxO score is made up of shutter lag, features, camera app functionality etc., IQ is only a part (small part) of the score...

This is expected since it has the latest sensor size compare to the any new smartphone.

Big sensor but with 40mp the photosite size is actually smaller (1.0 micron) than the 1.44 micron of other phones, thats a 40% odd size difference, which is substantial, not such an issue in good light but in low light... Tech wise though the P20 pro is setting the pace for sure and the firmware updates are improving the camera all the time.

P20 Pro 1/1.7 vs Iphone X 1/2.9 vs Iphone Xs 1/2.55 (same size a Samsung S7 - S9 at 1.4um and 12mp)

iPhone X has photosites 1.12 micron, still tiny. It seems the Xs is increased to 1.4 which is good news, but lets see the processing.

And Huewai P20 Pro combines the 1/1.7 sensor with its monochrome sensor to output an image that will further improves its light collecting ability.

yip the monochrome sensor is awesome, really helps. I had the P8 Plus and was amazed at the B/W shots' detail in low light.

When you read reviews from actual users, it seems the P20 can be really excellent, but it is inconsistent. Whereas the Pixels are extremely consistently excellent.
