5D Mark IV only works in live view?
Ran into a weird situation with a friend's 5D Mark IV.
Turned on the camera and the autofocus wasn't working at all. The autofocus indicator squares will not appear at all. All the settings on the camera indicate the autofocus is on. Autofocus is set on the lens. Because the camera can't/won't focus, you can't depress the shutter to take a photo.
However, when I switch the camera into LiveView, the autofocus works just fine. If I switch back out of LiveView into standard operating mode, the autofocus does not work.
We have tried this on multiple lenses, and the same result. The camera won't autofocus and the shutter won't depress.
We've replaced the battery with a freshly charged battery. Same result.
Even weirder, if we put a flash on the camera, it won't autofocus or take a picture in normal mode, and if you put it in LiveView, it will autofocus and allow you to press the shutter, but the flash goes off well after the shutter opens/closes. Then the camera shuts down.
As far as we know, the camera has not been dropped or otherwise physically shocked.
Any suggestions on how to revert the camera back to normal operation?
