The prudent course of action is to wait...

Ive been waiting since the original 6D for a worthwhile upgrade. How much longer do you recommend? If Canon couldn’t do on their first big full frame mirrorless revels what competitors did a few years ago then I no longer think it’s worth waiting. I wouldn’t mind if Canon had a roadmap but there’s absolutely no guarantee anything worthwhile will arrive.

I've too been waiting to see some signs from Canon.

But I've also been waiting to see Sony, or Nikon, or any other camera manufacturer solve their long-held problems, and it seems that this particular industry is struck by a bad case of business culture inertia. Solving the A series' ergonomics, controls and UI problems is something that shouldn't have taken Sony 6 years to do, and it still isn't done (who's the imbecile manager who looked at the menu item called "Reg. cust. shoot. set" and thought "yep, that's a good, explicit terminology ! Guys, we've done a good job."). Same goes for Nikon's idiotic memory banks - they've received criticism for more than a decade and they're still not solved ! And what about raw files clipping indicators ? Been asked for more than a decade, and so far only Phase One bothered.

...is why no one's made a 16-800 / 1.4 for under $2K that weighs under 1 kg.

So I guess is that regardless of where one shops, in the camera industry, a modicum of patience is required no matter what.

I'll be patient once they hurry up and give me what I want for a price I'm willing to pay!
