One of my best EOS-M shots
3

Very funny post, Marco.

I alas no longer own the 1st generation EOS M I shot with for awhile.  I let it go, out of frustration with a number of small things, although during the time I had it, I got some remarkable photos from it. I attribute this partially to the stellar qualities of the diminutive 22mm pancake lens which, during the time I had it, became one of my favorite lenses, ever. In the interim period, I've continued shooting with some fine micro 4-3 cameras, and also owned, used, enjoyed, and sold, several other compact cameras which, for me, were successors to the EOS-M ethos - of having a semi-pocketable incredible high quality take-everywhere camera that truly surpassed my personal photographic wishes and quirks.  Those compacts included the Ricoh GR, the Nikon Coolpix A, the Fujifilm X70 and - the predecessor to my EOS-M, the all-in-one Lumix LX7.  But recently I finally bought the camera which, though not an interchangeable-lens mirrorless system device, nonetheless comes closer to all of the things I liked in my EOS M way back when -

To my surprise, that camera is another small Canon - the G1x Mark III - with its diminutive but overengineered body, its logical but intuitive controls, its superb newer generation APSC sensor, and last but definitely not least, the 'slow' (2.8) zoom lens which a few reviewers have panned for being 'soft' but which in my experience is right up there not only with the 22mm EOS M lens - but also the other favorite in my current small stable, the Leica DG Summilux 15mm lens which Panasonic and Leica put out for mu4-3 cameras.

And no, the slower zoom lens of the G1xIII isn't quite as fast as the 22mm - but apart from that, it's everything I hoped and wished for in my EOS M, and more so, given its small but astoundingly good and usable built-in EVF.

Back to topic however, here is one of my favorite EOS-M shots - if you look at this photo, you can see why I loved this camera and its little pancake lens.
